- Mao Started the Great Leap Forward in 1958.
- The Great Leap forward was suppose to help China grow their crop supply.
- They put people on communes or larger community farms of about 30 thousand people.
- It did the complete opposite, it made Harvests drop.
- After the Leap Forward happened there was a lot of ad weather which means bad harvest.
- A Lot of people starved during the famine, so in 1960 he began breaking the farms up.
